Job Summary:

Our municipal government client is actively seeking a qualified and experienced Director of Cultural Affairs to join their team. Reporting to the Village Manager, the Director will work throughout the community to provide for an exceptional and vibrant cultural and arts life for the Village and those visiting from surrounding areas. Anticipated responsibilities include the development and management of onsite cultural series, oversight of cultural activities presented by the Village, and frequent contact demonstrating a spirit of cooperation with established arts organizations within the Village, such as the Symphony Orchestra, the Area Library, and others. Core Responsibilities:

• Oversight of the Village’s Cultural Commission
• Budgetary supervision and preparation
• Fund development and oversight of events related to the raising of funds in the community, in addition to assignments with staff and board members engaged in development activities.
• Convening of working groups, and providing leadership as required that makes for successful outcomes in cultural undertakings scheduled regularly throughout the year. 
• Extended oversight will also include White House Advisory Committee and Friends of White House Board of Directors and a robust volunteer organization.

Qualifications:

• Minimum educational requirements include a degree in an arts discipline, which could include art, music, theater, humanities, and arts education fields. Advanced degree in an arts discipline is preferred (MFA, DMA, Ed.D, Ph.D, etc.).
• Work experience should include a minimum of ten years of success as an educator, performer, manager of venues, supervisor of arts venues, or leadership of arts-related non-profit organizations.
