Director of Development (Chicago, IL)

Job Summary:

Our non-profit arts client is actively seeking a qualified and experienced Director of Development to serve as a leader in the organization overseeing planning and implementation of development/fundraising programs to provide resources that optimize opportunities and manifest our mission. Key Development actions include the annual gala, grant writing, individual donor cultivation, membership program and business/community partnerships. This is a full-time, overtime exempt, salaried position. Please include a cover letter and grant writioong sample when applying.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Managing Director and Artistic Director to determine the manifestation of the mission, purpose, and priorities of the organization
  • Sets annual monetary goals and budgets according to short- and long-term goals.
  • Establishes fundraising objectives for the organization, setting one year, five year, and longer-term goals.
  • Maintains a list of potential financial donors and sponsors including corporations, foundations, and individuals.
  • Produces relevant and informative fundraising literature for distribution to previous donors and the public.
  • Oversee, cultivate and grow the Membership program.
  • Researches potential sources of, writes and applies for grants and public funding.
  • Oversees the fundraising process and maintains records of receipts and disbursements of funds.
  • Plans fundraising events that effectively communicate the purposes of the organization.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar field require
  • Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles.
  • Five years of experience in fundraising for a nonprofit organization is highly preferred.
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of tax planning principles and techniques that favor charitable giving.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Compensation: $56,000
