Theater Teaching Artist (Los Angeles, CA)

Job Summary:

Our theater-based arts education client is seeking a long-term collaborating Teaching Artist to play a critical role in their arts education program. Our client believes that teaching is a performing art and is seeking someone dynamic and skilled. The ideal candidate is funny, warm, and passionate, and can keep kids engaged and excited while teaching them about this magical art form. If this is you, please apply! Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and/or facilitate sequential standards-based, differentiated curricula in the arts
  • Implement classroom management techniques including routines and rules
  • Prep, set-up, and clean-up of lessons, classrooms or carts
  • Utilizing and making connections with California’s Framework for VAPA
  • Documentation of teaching practice, including submission of rubrics and student work
  • Attend and participate in trainings and professional development workshops

Basic Qualifications:

  • Reliable transportation as TAs must be able to work at multiple school sites all over LA County
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus but not required
  • 3 years minimum experience teaching elementary and/or middle school-age students in theatre
  • Pass a DOJ background check
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Must have a car and a valid CA driver’s license

Position Status: Part-time, In-person

Start Date: ASAP

Work Type: Monday- Friday during and after school

Compensation: $55/hour for teaching and $17.28/hour for trainings, meetings and planning
